You knew it was going to happen. There will forever be bad blood between these two teams.

Man u fans were warned before hand about trouble before the match.

But would they really listen? Everyone knows of the previous trouble. Man U fans were proberly going out there with the mentality of they had a score to settle.

My Italian family are from ROME and i will tell it straight , they have serious issues with hooligans as you know and will of gone out of their way to engage Man Utd fans into a fight .
It has nothing to do with football , and yet again they have let themselfs down .
The Italian police seem to only react to trouble instead of preventing ..
Mindless idiots !

Sad but true, Italy does seem to be having a problem with hooligans over the past couple of years. I know it has been going on much longer, but has become very public over the last 2-3 years. Like the policeman who was murderd last season, and the fan who was shot dead last month.

Terrible, truly terrible. I'm watching the Italian news as we speak. Dark days ahead for Italian football

I feel left out, I'm fully English
But the sad reality is these things happen in football, it shouldn't be but it is. No matter how hard the police try they will never be able to completey stop it.
The situation in Italy does seem to be worse than the other major european leagues (Premier League and La Liga).

The Italian league will soon hit rock bottom due to these twats. What is such a great league will be ruined by the minority.
The question is, was he winding up the Roma fans or was he an innocent die hard fan, who travels the four corners of the world to watch HIS team.

I hope the Italians get banned from all European and International competitions for this.

It's basically cause the Ultra fans have been allowed to rule the roost for a long time , they are intimidating towards the clubs when there not taken seriously and allowed the freedom they desire , it's a deep rooted probem in Italy , the Ultras for example will attend a game and all turn there backs whilst the games in progress as a protest towards the team and club , there really well run groups and will even demand an explanation as to WHY the team underperformed by forcing entry to the board room ect , FREE TICKETS are handed out to the hirachy of these groups ect ect ...
These groups are massive and have a big say in procedings , plus there fingers in many pies , Police Politics .
This is a picture of one section of the ROMA ULTRAS , as you can see there are thousands of them .

Many Ultras has you say are huge, but in some case huger. Some clubs majority shareholders are the Ultra if not owned by them, police will NEVER go anywhere near the Ultra area, its a no no.

Surely if they were searched and forced to hand over the fireworks and flares and things it would cut out half of this
the clubs are not helping by letting them in with the things
like tothenham abroad the other night how did some guy get a metal bar into the stadium to throw at robbinson

They're not the problem, its the fighting that is.

And that is a long way from stopping.

It's about being able to run an area with them , like a dog that guards it's land , and then when they travel they want to run that area and so on , like a top dog in the local park that has a reputation .
Most of the fighting is pre planed away from the grounds and anything goes in Italy , the police basically keep away casue once they turn up it makes the fighting worse .
Flares are just part of the matchday atmosphere and have nothing to do with the trouble .
I know a West Ham lad who went to Parma and was lucky to get out of the local streets , he said they were waiting in flats shops , everywere and they were surrounded well away from the ground
What is has to do with football beats me , and like my Italian friends here " i feel ashamed

it works both way violence, united fans are known for being cocky
but whos fans arent, the hooligans wanted a bit of revenge for last years, and i take it the turned out in force, but didn't know what was coming at them from the roma ultras. if the fans like to fight then let them fight its up to them, just make sure its somewhere quiet and where people who don't want to get involved won't be.
to hear of stabbings etc though is just plain stupid, you wanted to show you can take your opponent down and then use weapons cause your too scared to use fists. weapons are pathetic, why?plain stupid
i sound like a hooligan, but having experience just makes me respond in this way, police tend to make situations worse
chavs can fight in the streets all the time and mug old people, imo its worse than the hooligans,so why is it any tha hooligans have to be stopped instead of left where they would most likely fight elsewhere as there is no control by police?
personally i think it will make it safer in the stadiums as things have been settled outside of the stadium and away from people that didnt want to get involved.

Maybe they will listen next time. Man U fans were warned that this kind of thing could/would happen. Did they listen? No.
